Food from my trip to Japan
I know it's about a month late, but here's what I ate on my trip to Japan.
My mother in law prepared this. It's sashimi, carage (boneless fried chicken), and a daikon (Japanese radish) dish.
This is from an Okinawan restaurant. It's called chanpuru. It's stir fried vegetables and chicken on rice. The chicken has a sweet flavor kind of like Hawaiian BBQ.
My sis-in-law prepared this. It's sweet and sour pork, sushi, salad, yakisoba, and pizza. She covered four countries in one meal!!! But I have to say, the sweet and sour pork was excellent. ;-)
I couldn't go to Japan without getting an ebi fillet from McDonald's. Ebi means shrimp. It's a fried chunk of shrimp on a bun. I suspect it's mixed with cod to make the shrimp go further, much like fake crab meat.
I also had some great cold soba and ramen with pork belly. The ramen was the best I've ever had. Probably due to all the fat from the pork belly, which is like bacon with slightly less fat. Should have taken a picture.

Ebi in Indonesia is dried shrimps, btw. Unfortunately, we can't find pork in McDonald's here. Even in some Chinese restaurants, they don't have pork, because it's a Muslim country :\
